Basketball Game Preview: Lake Central Indians vs. Washington Township Senators

Two dominant guards in Vanessa Wimberly and Gracie Little are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Lake Central Indians just played last yesterday, but they'll still welcome the Washington Township Senators at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Lake Central is returning to their home court after beating Hammond Morton on theirs, despite the fact Hammond Morton has dominated at home this season. Lake Central took down Hammond Morton 63-46 on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Washington Township made easy work of LaVille on Tuesday and carried off a 52-30 win. The Senators have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 22 points or more this season.

Washington Township had a senior duo take command as Clair Klinger went 5 for 11 on her way to 14 points and four steals and Little went 6 of 10 en route to 16 points in addition to five assists and five steals. The contest was Little's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jaycee Jackson, who posted ten points.

Lake Central is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 15 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.0 points per game. As for Washington Township, their victory bumped their record up to 11-9.

Everything went Lake Central's way against Washington Township when the teams last played back in January of 2024, as Lake Central made off with a 52-29 win.
