Baseball Recap: Hoover's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Hoover ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out the Frankfort Falcons 5-4. The victory was some much needed relief for the Huskies as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Riley Johnson spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Sam Salyers, who went 2-for-4 with one triple and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Colton Tawney, who went 1-for-3 with one triple.

The win got Hoover back to even at 8-8. As for Frankfort, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hoover will venture away from home to take on Sissonville at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Frankfort, they will head out to challenge Berkeley Springs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Falcons are facing the Indians at the right time seeing as the Indians are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
