Game recap: Strong first quarter leads Curtis high school football team over Auburn Riverside

Curtis (University Place, Wash.) had a big 28-point first quarter on Saturday, sealing a 49-0 victory over Auburn Riverside (Auburn, Wash.).

The Vikings scored on a touchdown pass by Scott Wismer to Jason Williams, a punt return touchdown by Josh Dickens, a Ej Deveaux touchdown run and a touchdown run by Mitchell Hersey in the quarter.

After taking the lead on a Wismer touchdown pass to Williams in the first quarter, Curtis led 42-0 at the half.

CHS expanded its lead to 49 points entering the fourth quarter. The University Place school scored once in the quarter on a Ryan Price touchdown run.

With the win the Vikings extended their winning streak to five games. Curtis defeated the Sentinels 27-6 last week.



Wismer stood out for CHS in the win. The junior quarterback threw one touchdown and caught two touchdowns.

The Vikings had given up an average of 10.7 points prior to the contest. The Ravens' zero points were well below their season average of 23.7 per game.

In a 4A SPSL - North game next week Auburn Riverside (1-6) takes on Kentwood, and Curtis (6-1) will go up against Rogers in a 4A SPSL - South game.
