Basketball Recap: Commerce Comes Up Short

Commerce was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 50-45 heartbreaker at the hands of the Social Circle Redskins. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Redskins apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November of 2023.

Jada Hyman was her usual excellent self, almost dropping a triple-double on 23 points, nine rebounds, and nine steals for Social Circle. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Hyman has scored at least a third of Social Circle's points. Another player making a difference was Marissa Morrell, who posted 14 points.

Commerce's loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Social Circle, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-3.

Commerce will head out to challenge Banks County at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Social Circle, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 47-44 victory against Osborne on the 14th.
