The Adena Warriors will take on the Piketon Redstreaks at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Adena will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Friday, then bounced right back against River Valley on Tuesday. The Warriors were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Raiders.
Adena got a massive performance out of Marly Halcomb, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Lexi Pettit, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and one run.
Adena always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .615. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Piketon came tearing into Tuesday's match with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Oaks an 11-0 shutout.
Kyndall Carroll made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. Carroll was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Piketon let Danika Ritchie and Jaylin Forbes run wild. Ritchie went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Forbes went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. That's the most hits Ritchie has posted over her last 11 contests. Another player making a difference was Briar Penwell, who went 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Adena is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.9 runs on average over those games. As for Piketon, they pushed their record up to 21-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home.
Friday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Adena has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .462. However, it's not like Piketon struggles in that department as they've averaged .510. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
