Matoaca never got on the board in their matchup on Monday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Hopewell on Thursday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Blue Devils a 14-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won four games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Abby Davis made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Davis was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Savannah Wright was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. That triple was her first of the season. Raven Crabtree was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

Matoaca was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .588. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Matoaca's win bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Hopewell, their defeat was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Matoaca will square off against Monacan at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Hopewell, they will face off against Dinwiddie at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Generals will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
