Soccer Game Preview: Villa Park vs. Crean Lutheran

The Villa Park Spartans are taking a road trip to square off against the Crean Lutheran Saints at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Villa Park is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.

If Crean Lutheran heads into halftime all tied up, they better play a good second half: that's when Villa Park took over last week. Villa Park came out on top against Pacifica by a score of 3-1 on Wednesday. Given the Spartans' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 69th, while the Mariners are ranked 214th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, while it was all tied up 1-1 at halftime, Crean Lutheran was not quite Brea Olinda's equal in the second half on Wednesday. They came up short against the Wildcats, falling 4-1.

Crean Lutheran now has a losing record at 4-5-2. As for Villa Park, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-2-3.
