Softball Game Preview: Carson Senators vs. Reed Raiders

Carson is 1-9 against Reed since April of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Senators will challenge the Raiders at 4:00 p.m. Carson has given up an average of 8.3 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Carson is headed into Tuesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game on Saturday. They lost 17-3 to Douglas.

Carson saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cali Stagliano, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

Meanwhile, Reed faced Spanish Springs in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Raiders walked away with an 8-3 victory over the Cougars. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Raiders.

The team relied heavily on Breanna Staats, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs, one triple, and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Elana Torres, who went 3-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Carson's defeat dropped their record down to 9-16-1. As for Reed, their win bumped their record up to 26-5.

Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Carson hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .328. However, it's not like Reed struggles in that department as they've averaged .377. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Carson might still be hurting after the 11-1 loss they got from Reed in their previous meeting last Saturday. Can the Senators avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
