Basketball Recap: Springfield Tigers vs. Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart Mustangs

The Springfield Tigers came tearing into Friday's contest with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21.9 points) and they left with even more momentum. They strolled past Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart with points to spare, taking the game 75-58. Given Springfield's advantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 164th, while the Mustangs are ranked 400th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Brayden Sturm continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, shooting 4-for-7 from beyond the arc and dropping a double-double on 28 points and 12 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Springfield's points. Noah Vogel was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds.

Springfield has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. As for Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart, they are on a 18-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-18.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Springfield will challenge the Greyhounds at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart, they will head out on the road to face off against the Rabbits at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
