Softball Recap: Stoughton Wins Going Away Against Fort Atkinson

Stoughton never let their opponents score on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Fort Atkinson Blackhawks as they made off with a 9-0 victory. Surprisingly, this marked the Vikings' fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

The result came thanks to Madelyn Barsness's shutout, as she gave up just three hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Stoughton let Chloe Buell and Cara Link run wild. Buell got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Link went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that Link has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Camille Buell, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double.

Stoughton hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fort Atkinson struck out 13 times.

Stoughton's record is now 7-17. As for Fort Atkinson, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-16.

Stoughton didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 5-2 loss against Jefferson on the 27th. Fort Atkinson does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
