Baseball Recap: Hillsboro Comes Up Short

Hillsboro came into their game on Friday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against the Hood River Valley Eagles, falling 10-4. The Spartans were not able to make up for their loss to the Eagles from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

Hillsboro saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Daxsen Peters, who went 1-for-3 with two runs. Peters is becoming a predictor of the Spartans' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1 (and 8-9 when he doesn't).

Hillsboro's defeat dropped their record down to 12-10. As for Hood River Valley, the win snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 11-8 record.

While Hillsboro had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
