Preview: Eastwood Troopers vs. Socorro Bulldogs
Eastwood is 7-0 against Socorro since October of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Eastwood Troopers will look to defend their home field against the Socorro Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Eastwood has five straight wins, Socorro has 16 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Friday, Eastwood didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Americas, but they still walked away with a 26-21 win. That's two games straight that Eastwood has won by exactly five points.
Evan Minjarez continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 121 yards and two touchdowns, while also throwing for 227 yards and two touchdowns. Minjarez was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 69 yards. Maximus Mancilla and his 88 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Eastwood's win.
Meanwhile, Socorro had to suffer through a rough 44-7 loss at the hands of Pebble Hills. Socorro has struggled against Pebble Hills recently, as their matchup on Friday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Eastwood's win bumped their season record to 5-1 while Socorro's loss dropped theirs to 0-6.
