Basketball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Grand Island

Buena Vista came into Saturday's game looking for another win against Grand Island, but Babur Choul wouldn't allow it. The Grand Island Islanders walked away with a 49-36 victory over the Buena Vista Bison on Saturday thanks in part to Choul, who went 6 of 14 en route to 20 points and three steals. The match was his fifth in a row with at least ten points.

Victor Fisher Jr was another key player, putting up eight points and eight rebounds. He is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last three games he's played.

Several Bison players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Elijah Smith, who posted nine points. Smith also posted a block, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Ater Lual, who had nine points.

The win (which was Grand Island's third in a row) raised their record to 5-7. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.3 points per game. As for Buena Vista, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-6 record this season.

Grand Island will welcome Gretna East at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Gretna East is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63.5 points per game this season. As for Buena Vista, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 67-60 victory against Bishop Neumann on the 14th.
