Softball Recap: Rivera Takes a Loss

Friday just wasn't the day for Rivera's offense. They lost 7-0 to the Pace Vikings on Friday. That's two games in a row now that the Raiders have lost by exactly seven runs.

Kiley Trevino spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and five unearned) runs on four hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

Rivera dropped their record down to 4-10 with the loss, which was their third straight at home. As for Pace, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rivera will take on Weslaco East at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Weslaco East is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season. As for Pace, they will square off against Mercedes at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Mercedes comes in on four and Pace on five.
