Softball Preview: Central York Panthers vs. South Western Mustangs
Central York is 8-2 against South Western since April of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Central York Panthers will head out on the road to take on the South Western Mustangs at 4:15 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
On Wednesday, everything went Central York's way against Dallastown as Central York made off with a 13-3 victory. The win was just what Central York needed coming off of an 11-0 defeat in their prior contest.
Bailey Daughenbaugh looked comfortable as she pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits (she also didn't allow any walks).
At the plate, Central York got a big performance out of Ella Heap, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Heap is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's stolen at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Claire Bohannon, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, South Western had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They put the hurt on Dallastown with a sharp 14-1 victory.
Central York made their fans wait, but they earned their first win of the season to make their record 1-2. As for South Western, they pushed their record up to 1-0 with that win, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season.
