Basketball Recap: Ladysmith Beats Cumberland for Their Fourth Straight Win

Ladysmith won the last time they faced Cumberland and things went their way on Thursday too. The Ladysmith Lumberjacks walked away with a 55-44 win over the Cumberland Beavers. While the Lumberjacks didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-18), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Cumberland's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Macy Beecroft, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine boards. Another player making a difference was Raegan Beecroft, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 boards.

The victory was the fourth in a row for Ladysmith, bringing their record for this year to 8-4. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.3 points per game. As for Cumberland, they dropped their record down to 1-10 with the defeat, which was their 21st straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ladysmith will face off against Prentice at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Cumberland, they will square off against Cameron at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
