Softball Recap: Hunterdon Central's Win on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Hunterdon Central came tearing into Saturday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 5-1 win over the Sparta Spartans. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Red Devils also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2016.

Hunterdon Central pushed their record up to 16-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Sparta, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-10.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hunterdon Central will square off against Pope John XXIII at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Sparta, they will be playing in front of their home fans against West Morris Central at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
