Edwardsville has won seven straight games at home, while Pleasant Hill has won seven straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Friday. The Tigers will host the Wolves at 4:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Edwardsville barely beat Collinsville the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Tigers blew past the Kahoks 13-2 on Thursday. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Kahoks recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.
Meanwhile, Pleasant Hill never let their opponents score on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 16-0 margin over West Central co-op [Winchester-Bluffs].
Ava Wombles made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Kaitlyn Borrowman was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and five RBI. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Makenna Winchell, who went 1-for-4 with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Pleasant Hill kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as West Central co-op [Winchester-Bluffs] only managed five hits.
Pleasant Hill has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Edwardsville, their victory bumped their record up to 16-4.
Everything went Edwardsville's way against Pleasant Hill in their previous matchup back in April of 2023, as Edwardsville made off with a 7-0 win. Do the Tigers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wolves turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
