Volleyball Recap: Legacy Academy Falls Despite Big Games from Lilyana Contreras and Raelynn Trujillo

Legacy Academy was the 3-2 winner over Santa Fe Indian when they last played one another back in September of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Silverbacks fell just short of the Braves by a score of 3-2 on Saturday.

Legacy Academy's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Raelynn Trujillo, who had 22 digs and two assists, and Lilyana Contreras, who had 14 digs. Trujillo has been hot, having posted 11 or more digs the last six times she's played.

Legacy Academy's loss dropped their record down to 5-2. As for Santa Fe Indian, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. After both having extra time off, Legacy Academy and Tucumcari will shake off the rust and duke it out at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Santa Fe Indian, they will square off against Estancia at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
