Basketball Recap: Porter Comes Up Short

After a string of three wins, Porter's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They lost 58-36 to the Westfield Mustangs. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 575th, while the Mustangs are ranked 265th).

Leading Westfield to victory were Jameriah Butler and Jade Francis. Butler went 7 of 15 on her way to 16 points, while Francis went 6 for 10 on her way to 15 points. The game was Francis' third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Keynarjha Robinson, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds.

Porter's loss dropped their record down to 9-11. As for Westfield, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 13-2.

Porter didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 73-15 defeat against Fort Bend Travis on the 28th. As for Westfield, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 63-29 loss against Alief Taylor on the 28th.
