Softball Recap: Lake City Has No Trouble Against Kingstree

The Lake City Panthers made easy work of the Kingstree Blazers on Friday and carried off a 16-1 win.

Caitlin Byrd made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Byrd was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Ashlyn Byrd was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Amiya Lewis was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while going 1-for-2.

Lake City always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .720. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kingstree only posted an OBP of .000.

The victory got Lake City back to even at 1-1. As for Kingstree, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Lake City beat Kingstree by a score of 18-2 later that day.
