Volleyball Recap: Wednesday's Win Is Lake Zurich's 17th in Last 18 Outings

Warren Township typically has all the answers at home, but on Wednesday Lake Zurich proved too difficult a challenge. They skirted past the Blue Devils 2-1. For the Bears, this counts as revenge for the 2-1 victory the Blue Devils walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Lake Zurich who won the one that mattered. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 19-25, 25-20.

Lake Zurich's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Yani Oblakov led the charge by getting 15 assists and six digs. Those six digs gave Oblakov a new career-high.

Lake Zurich is on a roll lately: they've won 17 of their last 18 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 28-3 record this season. As for Warren Township, they moved to 21-11 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Lake Zurich and Warren Township should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. The Bears will square off against Huntley at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank advantage (11 vs. 182). Meanwhile, Warren Township (ranked 37th) will meet Lakes (ranked 130th) at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
