Basketball Recap: Elijah Reid's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Heritage Christian School over Gateway

If Heritage Christian School was feeling good fresh off their 70-41 takedown of Family Christian Academy last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Heritage Christian School Eagles lost 77-54 to the Gateway Panthers on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Eagles have suffered since January 8, 2024.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Elijah Reid, who went 5 for 10 on his way to 16 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeremiah Reid, who went 7 of 12 en route to 14 points and seven boards.

Heritage Christian School's defeat dropped their record down to 13-3. As for Gateway, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-10.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Heritage Christian School will venture away from home to challenge Christian Learning Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Heritage Christian School is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 67.8 points per game this season. As for Gateway, they and Eau Gallie will face off at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday without much rest having both just played. Gateway is facing Eau Gallie at the right time seeing as Eau Gallie is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
