Basketball Recap: Gateway Comes Up Short

Gateway lost against Fairview back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Gateway Olympians were outmatched by the Fairview Knights and fell 67-34. The Olympians were down 50-24 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Seven Carter and Bryan Lozano certainly did their best on Monday to avoid the loss. Carter posted eight points and three steals, while Lozano went 6 of 13 on his way to 15 points and five steals. Those five steals gave Lozano a new career-high.

Fairview's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Trevor Ochs led the charge by going 5 of 12 on his way to 13 points and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Spencer Brown, who went 6 of 11 on his way to 20 points.

Gateway now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Fairview, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.

Gateway wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, an 80-47 defeat against Ponderosa on the 11th. As for Fairview, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 53-40 victory against Prairie View on the 11th.
