Volleyball Recap: Garden Plain Comes Up Short

Garden Plain entered their contest against Cheney on Thursday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Owls fell 2-0 to the Cardinals. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cardinals this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-0 on Saturday.

While Garden Plain was not able to win a set, they sure kept things interesting: every set was decided by exactly three points. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-22.

When it comes to explaining why Garden Plain lost, don't look at Erin Smith. Despite the final result, she had 19 digs and one assist.

Garden Plain's defeat dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Cheney, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 10-6.

Coincidentally, Garden Plain and Cheney will both be playing Rose Hill the next time they take the court. The Cardinals will host the Rockets at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Owls will play them later in the day, at 7:00 p.m.
