Softball Recap: River Ridge/Scales Mound Extends Winning Streak to Three

River Ridge/Scales Mound entered their tilt with Benton/Shullsburg on Friday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 victory over the Zephyrs. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Wildcats also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2023.

Elizabeth Rife spent all 13 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up 18 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 17 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Sarah Winter, who went 5-for-7 with two doubles and two RBI. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in April of 2024.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: River Ridge/Scales Mound kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

River Ridge/Scales Mound's win bumped their record up to 12-14.

Coming up, River Ridge/Scales Mound will be playing at home against Eastland at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Benton/Shullsburg does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
