Basketball Recap: Bridgett Newbold's Big Game Can't Quite Lead David Anderson over Wellsville

David Anderson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 44-41 heartbreaker at the hands of the Wellsville Tigers. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Blue Devils this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 53-30 back in December of 2024.

Several Blue Devils players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Bridgett Newbold, who went 7 for 11 on her way to 20 points and five rebounds. Newbold is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games. Lylah Brown was another key player, putting up eight points and ten boards.

David Anderson's loss dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Wellsville, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Toronto the next time they take the court. David Anderson will host Toronto at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, while Wellsville will head out to face them at 5:30 p.m. on January 22nd.
