Recap: Heritage Coyotes vs. Lone Star Rangers
The Heritage Coyotes''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They took a serious blow against Lone Star, falling 35-7. While losing is never fun, Heritage can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 309th, while Lone Star is ranked 48th).
Jiyere Cogshell and Vincent Hooper certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Cogshell rushed for 30 yards and a touchdown, while Hooper picked up 65 receiving yards.
Lone Star found their leader in underclassman Davian Groce, who picked up 305 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Collin Blackstock was another key contributor, throwing for 404 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 12.2 yards per attempt.
Heritage's loss dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Lone Star, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 9-1.
Heritage does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Lone Star will square off against White at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
