Volleyball Recap: Blair Oaks Comes Up Short

Blair Oaks had lost five straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped down to 2-7 to make it six. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Boonville Pirates. The Falcons were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Pirates apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Kylie Hickman paced Blair Oaks' offense, picking up ten kills. Hickman got some help from Laney Toebben and her 20 assists. Finally, Ainlsey Stegeman kept Blair Oaks' defense grounded, leading the team with six blocks.

As for Boonville, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-1. While they didn't have the best season last year (they finished 12-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Addison Johnson was a one-woman wrecking crew as she had 17 digs and three aces. That's the most aces she has posted since back in October of 2024. Katelyn Drummond also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.

Blair Oaks wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 victory against Summersville on the 13th. As for Boonville, they have also already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against Osage on the 16th.
