Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Union County). They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 14-12 victory over the Hardin County Cougars on Tuesday. For the Braves, this counts as revenge for the 9-6 win the Cougars walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.
The team relied heavily on Will Bolden, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Tate Nobles, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI.
Union County's victory bumped their record up to 12-16. As for Hardin County, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-7-1.
Looking ahead, Union County will host Hopkins County Central at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Hardin County, they are taking a road trip to face off against Pope County at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
