Softball Recap: Manteo Comes Up Short

Manteo has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.75 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Friday. They fell just short of the Currituck County Knights by a score of 10-9. The Redskins were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Knights earlier this season, when they won 10-8.

Bridgett Berry was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and four RBI. Bailey Dickerson was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-5.

The loss snapped Manteo's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 8-4 record. As for Currituck County, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 6-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Manteo will venture away from home to take on Pasquotank County at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pasquotank County has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.25 runs per game on average), something Manteo will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Currituck County, they will head out to challenge Nansemond River at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
