Basketball Preview: St. Martin Yellow Jackets vs. Ocean Springs Greyhounds
St. Martin is 0-10 against the Greyhounds since February of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The St. Martin Yellow Jackets will head out on the road to face off against the Ocean Springs Greyhounds at 8:00 p.m. St. Martin is no doubt hoping to put an end to a nine-game streak of away losses.
Last Thursday, St. Martin escaped with a win against the Bearcats by the margin of a single free throw, 39-38. The victory was just what St. Martin needed coming off of a 75-26 loss in their prior matchup.
St. Martin's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Kai Vieira, who scored ten points, and Ty'Lah Whitlock, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. It was the first time this season that Whitlock scored 15 or more points.
Ocean Springs has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell to Biloxi 56-51.
St. Martin's win bumped their record up to 5-20. As for Ocean Springs, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-6.
St. Martin came up short against the Greyhounds in their previous meeting back in January, falling 45-33. Can St. Martin avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
