Baseball Recap: Bowie Continues Home Dominance on Friday

Bowie got themselves on the board against Northwestern on Friday, but Northwestern never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 16-0 margin over the Wildcats. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won seven matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.

Brandon Epps and Chris Reyes made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Epps pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Reyes tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. At bat, Epps scored a run while going 2-for-2, while Reyes went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double. That double marked the first that Reyes hit this season.

In other batting news, Jayden Reeves was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while going 2-for-3. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Jayden Ryland was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-3.

Bowie kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive games.

Bowie's victory was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for Northwestern, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Bowie wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 17-0 victory against Parkdale on the 5th. As for Northwestern, they have also already played their next matchup, a 17-1 loss against Flowers on the 5th.
