Basketball Game Preview: Lancaster Golden Gales vs. Newark Wildcats

Lancaster is 1-9 against Newark since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Lancaster Golden Gales will venture away from home to square off against the Newark Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. Lancaster knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully Newark likes a good challenge.

Last Tuesday, Lancaster came up short against Canal Winchester and fell 63-56.

Meanwhile, Newark unfortunately witnessed the end of their ten-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 49-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of Reynoldsburg. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 33rd, while the Raiders are ranked second).

Newark's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 10-2. As for Lancaster, their loss dropped their record down to 9-5.

Lancaster was taken down by Newark 64-30 when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Can Lancaster avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
