Soccer Game Preview: Taft vs. Sotomayor

The Taft Raiders will face off against the Sotomayor WILDCATS at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Taft's last four contests have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Last Tuesday, Taft didn't have quite enough to beat Warren and fell 2-1. While losing is never fun, the Raiders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 625th in Texas, while the Warriors are ranked 129th in Texas).

Meanwhile, Sotomayor's game on Wednesday was all tied up 0-0 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over Stevens. The WILDCATS' winning goal came courtesy of Kennedy Almeida.

The victory made it two in a row for Sotomayor and bumps their season record up to 5-10. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored seven goals over those two matchups. As for Taft, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last ten games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season.
