Basketball Recap: Midway Comes Up Short

Midway was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 56-33 to the Clinton Dark Horses. The Raiders were down 48-25 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Despite the loss, Midway saw an underclassman step up: freshman Katelyn Vann posted three points.

Even though they lost, Midway smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive boards every time they've taken the court this season.

Phoenix Everett was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 21 points and 11 steals for Clinton. Everett is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 18 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Evan Gillespie, who had six points and six boards.

Midway's defeat dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Clinton, their victory bumped their record up to 12-7.

Midway didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 57-31 loss against Fairmont on the 4th. As for Clinton, they have also already played their next contest, a 64-49 win against Wallace-Rose Hill on the 3rd.
