Softball Recap: Maypearl Makes It Five in a Row at Home

Maypearl got themselves on the board against Scurry-Rosser on Friday, but Scurry-Rosser never followed suit. They had just enough and edged out the Wildcats 1-0. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 4-2 last Tuesday.

Not much got past Kaelyn Smith, who gave up just three hits and racked up nine Ks to keep Scurry-Rosser off the board. That's the most strikeouts Smith has posted since back in February.

At the plate, Maypearl's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Bailey Short, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Maypearl's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-8-2. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 2.6 runs across that stretch. As for Scurry-Rosser, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-14.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Maypearl will welcome Grandview at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Grandview will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Maypearl surely won't give up without a fight. As for Scurry-Rosser, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Scurry-Rosser Wildcats challenge Blooming Grove Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
