Basketball Recap: Gus Jacobson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Sutton over Bartlett

Sutton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 57-52 heartbreaker at the hands of the Bartlett Indians. The Sammies were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Indians apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Sutton's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gus Jacobson, who posted 22 points. The dominant performance gave Jacobson a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Chase Gara, who scored 15 points.

Sutton's loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Bartlett, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-5.

Sutton wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 63-32 win against Whitinsville Christian on the 17th. Bartlett has also already played their next contest, a 66-44 defeat against Auburn on the 17th.
