Basketball Recap: Payson Takes a Loss

Payson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a hard 45-27 fall against the Holbrook Roadrunners. The game marked the Longhorns' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Despite the loss, Payson still got an impressive performance from Aldan Parsons, who posted nine points and eight rebounds.

Even though they lost, Payson smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

Tyler Tapaha continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Holbrook, going 8-for-13 to rack up 18 points in addition to seven steals and six boards. Tapaha's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Leyton Tom, who earned two points and four steals.

Payson's defeat dropped their record down to 9-18. As for Holbrook, they pushed their record up to 21-7 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.

Payson does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Holbrook, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 49-44 loss against Coolidge on the 18th.
