Softball Recap: Banning Takes a Loss

If Banning was riding high fresh off their 18-3 takedown of Rancho Dominguez on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Pilots fell just short of the Carson Colts by a score of 2-1 on Monday. The loss continues a trend for the Pilots in their meetings with the Colts: they've now lost nine in a row.

Ariel Gonzalez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Savvy Su'e was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Banning's defeat dropped their record down to 13-13-1. As for Carson, they pushed their record up to 17-7 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road.

Banning and Carson should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. The Pilots (ranked 285th) will meet Gardena (ranked 1028th) at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Carson will face off against Rancho Dominguez at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank advantage (199 vs. 724).
