Football Recap: Greenbrier Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Greenbrier scored first but ultimately less than Statesboro in their matchup on Friday. They took a hard 42-28 fall against the Blue Devils. The Wolfpack were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Blue Devils apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Greenbrier lost, don't look at Beau Polcha. Despite the final result, he rushed for 86 yards and one TD on only six carries, and also picked up 46 receiving yards and one score. The bulk of those rushing yards came from one huge play: a run that gained an incredible 54 yards.

A big part of Statesboro's win came down to the chemistry between Beckham Jarrard and his top target Keon Childers. Jarrard rushed for 134 yards on only 13 carries while Childers rushed for 142 yards and four touchdowns. The dominant performance also gave Jarrard a new career-high in passer rating (139.9).

Greenbrier now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Statesboro, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Greenbrier will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Brunswick at 7:30 p.m. on the 19th. As for Statesboro, they will head out to challenge Glynn Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
