Volleyball Recap: Columbia Central Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Columbia Central lost against Summertown back in September of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Lions fell 3-1 to the Eagles. The Lions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

Columbia Central was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Summertown work for it, especially in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-24, 24-26, 25-19, 25-13.

Anne Wolaver paced Columbia Central's offense, picking up 14 kills. Wolaver got some help from Allie Hill and her 41 assists. Wolaver was also solid from the service line: she led the team with nine aces.

Summertown was led to victory by Zoei Bonner and Amelia Emerson. Bonner had 45 assists and six digs, while Emerson had 19 kills and five aces. Emerson has been hot for a while, having posted five or more kills the last 39 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Izzy Garland, who had eight digs, seven kills, and three aces.

Columbia Central's loss dropped their record down to 17-8. As for Summertown, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 34-8.

Columbia Central wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against Shelbyville Central on the 7th. As for Summertown, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Collinwood on the 7th.
