Volleyball Recap: Madonna Makes It Six in a Row at Home

Madonna hadn't done well against Catholic Central recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Blue Dons blew past the Crusaders 3-0. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-0 back in August.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Madonna was: they took every set by at least 13 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-5, 25-12, 25-6.

Rylee Birkhimer paced Madonna's offense, picking up 12 kills. Birkhimer got some help from Sophie Brady and her 30 assists. Brady was also solid from the service line: she led the team with eight aces.

Madonna's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-4-1. As for Catholic Central, they are on a 12-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-11.

Looking ahead, Madonna will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Wellsville at 5:30 p.m. As for Catholic Central, they will square off against Toronto at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
