Softball Recap: Four Straight Road Victories for Decatur

Decatur let Kentlake stack six runs on them in the first inning on Friday but luckily Decatur prevailed anyway. The Golden Gators had just enough and edged out the Falcons 9-8. The win continues a trend for the Golden Gators in their matchups with the Falcons: they've now won seven in a row.

The team relied heavily on Luci Pech, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and one double. Another player making a difference was Sam Hackney, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBI.

Decatur pushed their record up to 8-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Kentlake, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-5.

Coming up, Decatur will square off against Enumclaw at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Hornets will roll in looking for their 11th straight victory, something the Golden Gators surely won't give up without a fight. As for Kentlake, they will challenge Kent-Meridian at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Falcons are facing the Royals at the right time seeing as the Royals are stuck on an 11-game losing streak.
