The Miller School of Albemarle Mavericks came into Monday's game having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They came out on top against Roanoke Catholic by a score of 37-29 on Monday. The victory was just what Miller School of Albemarle needed coming off of a 76-44 loss in their prior matchup.

Miller School of Albemarle's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ella Jackson, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds. Ella Ott was another key contributor, scoring five points along with 11 rebounds and two steals.

When it comes to explaining why Roanoke Catholic lost, one person who can't be blamed is Mickie O?Herron. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds. That was a full 37.9% of Roanoke Catholic's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Aubrey Aaron, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds.

Miller School of Albemarle's win bumped their record up to 6-14. As for Roanoke Catholic, they now have a losing record at 6-7.

Miller School of Albemarle will be playing in front of their home fans against Steward at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Steward has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Roanoke Catholic, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against New Covenant at 5:00 p.m. on February 6th. Hopefully New Covenant focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 last Friday.
