Basketball Recap: Wakefield Comes Up Short

Wakefield was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against the Laurel-Concord-Coleridge Bears, falling 56-36. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Trojans of the 44-36 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

Laurel-Concord-Coleridge found their leader in sophomore Rena Rasmussen, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 16 rebounds. Those 16 boards gave Rasmussen a new career-high. Carlie Kvols was another key player, going 5 for 11 on her way to 14 points.

Wakefield's defeat dropped their record down to 3-14. As for Laurel-Concord-Coleridge, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-10.

Wakefield has already played their next game, a 72-38 loss against West Point-Beemer on the 31st. As for Laurel-Concord-Coleridge, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 61-37 win against Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard] on the 3rd.
