Basketball Game Preview: Terre Haute South Vigo Braves vs. Columbus North Bull Dogs

The Terre Haute South Vigo Braves will venture away from home to take on the Columbus North Bull Dogs at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Terre Haute South Vigo is headed into the contest having just suffered their closest defeat since February 13, 2024 on Monday. They fell just short of Bloomfield by a score of 46-43. The Braves have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

While Columbus North didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They were the clear victor by a 66-46 margin over Batesville on Friday. Given the Bull Dogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 42nd, while the Bulldogs are ranked 187th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Columbus North's win came from a few key players Terre Haute South Vigo will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Austin Perry, who went 8 of 14 on his way to 19 points along with seven assists and three steals. Those 19 points gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Garrett Long, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten boards.

Columbus North was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Batesville only racked up 11 assists.

Terre Haute South Vigo's loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Columbus North, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.

Terre Haute South Vigo beat Columbus North 58-51 in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Terre Haute South Vigo since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
