Basketball Recap: Wadena-Deer Creek Comes Up Short

If Wadena-Deer Creek was feeling good fresh off their 56-28 takedown of Sebeka last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines were just a bucket shy of victory on Tuesday and fell 61-60 to the New York Mills Eagles. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Saturday (56), the Wolverines still had to take the loss.

Wadena-Deer Creek's defeat dropped their record down to 12-7. As for New York Mills, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 13-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wadena-Deer Creek will host Perham at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Perham knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Wadena-Deer Creek likes a good challenge. New York Mills has already played their next match (against Staples-Motley), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
