Softball Recap: Sheehan Takes a Loss

Sheehan dropped their record down to 4-7 on Friday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They came up short against the Amity Regional Spartans, falling 7-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Spartans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-0 back in April.

As for Amity Regional, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-1. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won nine matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

For Amity Regional's part, Amara Forstrom was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Forstrom has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in both of her plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

In other batting news, Jenna Maus was incredible, firing off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 2-for-3. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high.

Coming up, Sheehan will challenge Lyman Hall at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Amity Regional, they will take on Cheshire at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
