Football Recap: West Laurens' Punishing Run Game Keeps Rolling + How To Watch

West Laurens had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They blew past the Beach Bulldogs 45-6 on Friday. Considering the Raiders have won six games by more than 23 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

West Laurens' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ty Cummings, who rushed for 131 yards and one TD on only six carries. Cummings really tore up the turf during one magnificent 99-yard run. Another back making a difference was Branden Brooks, who rushed for 121 yards and one touchdown on only six carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: West Laurens was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 306 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 176 rushing yards in 17 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to West Laurens' defense and their three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Maxx Chafin, Ethan Cason-Guyton, and Shannon Adkins, who each picked up one sack apiece.

West Laurens' victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-0. The home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 45.1 points over those games. As for Beach, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-5.

Looking ahead, West Laurens will face off against Oconee County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That matchup will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Cummings and Caiden Wood. Beach does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
